Introduction to the Module
What you can expect
The module is taught entirely online via Minerva page for the module. The module is designed to be flexible with your other studies so you may progress through the content at your own pace.
We recommend, and we feel it is possible, to complete one section per week. Assuming you manage this you will be on target to complete the courseworks on time.
Each section contains either a new concept or builds on a concept introduced previously.
For each section there are a set of learning resources including text, embedded examples and exercises which you should read and practice.
These examples are provided by a service called jsFiddle. This service enables embedding of live examples into the learning resources. To use these examples you should have JavaScript enabled. The jsFiddle examples contain four tabs; HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Result. These tabs allow you to see the code that produces the result.
To develop your own website you can use any text editor you are good at. Some recommended editors are: SublimeText VScode Notepad++
The module is supported by lab classes. In each lab class there will be a set of module staff. You are allowed to attend any lab class you wish however we only guarantee you a seat in the lab classes that appear on your timetable.
The lab classes are your opportunity to ask questions to the module staff and to interactive with your peers to exchange ideas. You should use the lab classes wisely, come to them with questions not just to do the work.
If you require any additional support with the module please contact the module leader.
How you will be assessed
The module is assessed via two pieces of coursework (there is no exam). The two pieces of coursework are both worth 40% and 60% respectively. Coursework 2 builds on coursework 1 and provides you with an opportunity to implement some of the feedback you will receive. For each piece of coursework you will receive a grade and feedback. If you are unsure about any of the comments made on the feedback please ask a member of the module staff.
